I wish I could give them 0 stars. Awful experience. I would never recommend them to anyone. In fact I Will go out of my way to make sure people steer clear. They come to your house acting they they are giving you all this "free stuff" and smooth talk their way into a ridiculous contract. Not to mention the tech installed the camera upside down and the doorbell never works. Go with anyone else anyone. If I can save one person from the headache I experienced, the wasted money will Be worth it.

Shame on you for confirming an appointment we had for today between the hours of 8 AM-12 PM, then calling at 10:30 this morning to attempt to reschedule for another day. Not only has this appointment been on the books for weeks, but we called to confirm it yesterday before we drove 3 hours to meet the technician at our old home. We were customers for 23 years and you let us sit for ELEVEN days with an alarm that was non-functioning and unable to protect our home.
Your technician did show up this afternoon to successfully service the alarm, but it's far too little too late. For anyone reading this review, RUN as fast and as far as you can from this horrible, horrible company.

I'm posting this review so that potential employees are aware of what it is like to work for their monitoring department. I was hired as a temporary agent (we had NO issues with our temp agency) amongst multiple new temp hires, and the job seemed great at first. They made it seem like there were so many benefits to working for the company, but what they failed to do is fully prepare us for the job.
We were given 2 weeks of training to do the most basic functions, however, we were not properly trained on how to handle the utterly disrespectful customers they have, or the nasty and rude police/fire dispatchers we speak with everyday. Some of the customers had a point when being upset due to their systems malfunctioning constantly. If your calls are majorly due to equipment not working properly, then something is wrong with ADT's products and services.
Not only this, but this company FAILED to train us on Quality Assurance Standards. They gave us ONE class on just a FEW basic guidelines we needed to follow to be graded well by QA. Well. a couple weeks later they start grading us on things we were NOT AWARE OF. It is unfair to grade us on things we were never trained on. The command team I had (not the supervisors) is very inconsistent.
You can overhear them gossiping and even complaining about new hires and their mistakes. Not enough command members to support the load of questions/requests new hires have, and there are supervisors there that can help answer those questions, but you don't really hear from them.

I agreed with others said about this company. They lied and are not ethical. I had their service for 13 years and decided to cancel the service in Dec. They would not let me go! They denied/ignored my written request for the cancellation. I did not realize they did not inactivate my account until the fire truck pulled up in front of my house because we were working on the fire alarm and triggered a false alarm.
I did not think they were still monitoring it. I called them and they denied i had sent a written request. I had proof to show them and they still would not cancel my account! What kind of company this is? Dont ever use them! They are expensive and raise rate every year! I have been a long time loyal customer and this is how i am being treated!

This is a horrible unethical company. I was a paying customer for 5 years and when I moved from my residence to a new home, protection one wouldn't let me go. During the rise of Covid-19 epidemic, they demanded over $500 to finish out a multi-year contract. They said I had to reconnect their services wherever I go. Their sales people told me if I move I can go, otherwise I would not have signed with them. The new resident has even connected services with them but they are still chasing me for money.

(Monitoring Dept) Horrid place to work. Glad I was able to escape the ball and chain. A good amount of yes-men work here and if hired, you'll soon come to realize this. Hiring processes is trash and needs to be a little more rigorous as certain employees they have hired seem to be gassed up on themselves, which in turn leads to a childish environment within the workplace. Also, turnover rate here is high so they try and reel you in with "incentives" which are pretty much just a gimmick to try and keep you in the door.

I hesitate in giving them 1 star. I WOULD NEVER recommend them to anyone. Horrible customer service, and they do not follow through with what they tell you on the phone. Keep very good notes if you do use them. If you do not plan to use them the following year and you miss the deadline for cancelling by 1 day, they will charge for an entire year, then tell you that you can't use the service that you just an entire year for. Was told our company would get a refund for the amount we paid and was not able to use, if landlords went with their service. Now, after landlords went with their service, they know nothing about it. Really?

Had service with this company and it was terrible, the panel would go off in the middle of the night for no reason or say there's no signal. They charge u if someone has to come out to fix a problem caused by there faulty equipment. There's other companies out there that will monitor your home with better equipment and offer a better service for less.
When you try to cancel with them, they say you're still under contract because of a verbal agreement over the phone. Be careful when giving them the pass code because that's what they're using as verbal consent.

I am a local business person and Protection one customer. Today I had my fifth call with customer service to dispute a repair bill from a couple months ago. For the fifth time I was told that the local Branch Manager would call me. I suspect that like the first four promises, this one will go unfulfilled. Mr. Gary Davis is reported to be the Branch Manager but at this point, I beginning to wonder if he is a real person?
My issue is simple. I'm charged for service visits and repairs that I can not confirm happened. Since my initial dispute, I have two more disputed "repair" visits since I started this debacle. Now I'm beginning to wonder if the Service reps are imaginary too? This is one of the most frustrating customer service experiences of my business career.

We have had this company 4 20 yrs. They began well, then started to 'forget'to send statements via email each month. I switched back to paper bills to avoid late $s. Now, they seem to omit a bill every 4 months or so. Sending emails gets you nowhere. I was told the bill must have been lost, even though no other statement is ever 'lost'. Awful accounting department!

I like the system and the monitoring service. Problem is the customer support phone lies for billing and service all lie to you and are extremely unhelpful. Still trying to find someone who tells the truth and actually provides customer service there. May just need to pay the fee to get rid of them. I hate being lied to. DONT USE THEIR SERVICE!

They're horrible, they claim they are employees of ADT. Everything on the phone and they sale person don't give their direct number or last name. They email you contract that doesn't specify everything before they ask you to dogsign. I had ADT before and I still have the equipment and I want to re activate the system after I cancelled it in 2002.
I replacement windows and too out the wireless sensors and kept them to place them back. They took me thru lots of people over the phone and sales people. They sent me technician who said my panel is old and wanted to replace it with huge one, they don't tell you the truth that signal needs to go to protection one, I didn't want to so he took my sensors and left. I've been trying to get them back, but the East people has no control over the technician and they only promise you you'll get it back.
Yesterday the sale person, also has an ADT badge he scammed you too and charge my credit card without detailed information about the sensors and that I want paper bill. He claimed he has no place to write on the contract. I'm sorry this company is a big scammers and I'm going to the police today.

Today is February 19 I sold my home a year ago I lived there and and originally signed with another company 20 years ago never renewed contract with anybody, they just kept reselling monitoring services. Ever since Protection 1 took over I've had nothing but unpleasant experiences. I squared up when I sold and paid more than I should have. The service people are all rude when you call them. suddenly out of the blue I get a bill for $13 today and some little shit telling me that just because I don't understand the bill doesn't mean it's not valid. LOL Actually, the service person then the accounting department both said the exact same line.
I see that other people on here are having the identical scenario with them. ADT has always been a good company I hope they can survive the protection one reputation. Protection 1/ ASG is a horrible company with a horrible non-customer friendly business philosophy. A bunch of thieves common criminals.

Seriously. Since the ADT buyout, these guys are a joke. Literally, I cancelled my service over a service issue. Not worth arguing when a I found a local provider for less than 1/3 the cost. I also cancelled my commercial account.all over an issue with their customer service and 1 account manager acting like complete jerks on the phone. Management never bothered to return my calls either.that shows a disregard for my business. Thanks guys!

When I signed the contract I discussed with the sales rep a 1 year contract due to being in CA. He sent over for signature a 3 year contract and due to hectic timing (moving) and my naivety, I signed a 3 year contract without meaning to. I wanted to switch out to SimpliSafe now that it has been 1.5 years since I started with Protection 1 and was told that to get out of my contract I need to pay upwards of $700.
These guys are cheats and thieves. THEIR EQUIPMENT IS TRASH: the camera only takes stills not video when the alarm goes off, their sensor glue fails and once caused my alarm to go off which trigger a fine in LA. I had to use gorilla glue on all the adhesives to avoid that from happening again. Their sensors continually fail, noted by ongoing bypass notifications from the app on my phone.
You can't reboot the system without calling in to their customer service and even the reboot doesn't solve the randomized failed sensors. This company is a nightmare.

I was a happy customer for 3 years, then moved out of state. I planned to move the service to my new home as soon as it was finished being built. I was told when I purchased that I could finish my contract at my new residence, but no.they tried to make me sign up for another 4 years! I thought that was ridiculous, so I told them no thank you and that I preferred to pay the early cancellation fee of $300.
They never sent me a bill, and called my phone 1-3 times per day from October through March and never left a message for me to return the call--their number just kept coming up on caller ID. I finally blocked their number with the phone company and then they put me into collections. They claimed they had sent me bills every month since June of 2017 and I never got one. I paid the collection agency and am thrilled to be rid of Protection One. Shady business practices.

Possibly the worst accounting and customer service I've ever experienced. They call me HOURS after my brother's alarm goes off and tell he they've never reached him. I call him and he says he's been home all day and the alarm never went off, but Protection1 sent the police and the fire department to his house several hours earlier. This is not a good company at all. When my contract ends, I am gone!

Honest review, the equipment is mediocre at best. I switched to protection one about 6 years ago from ADT which I really disliked. Now Protection 1 and ADT are the same company which make sense. I am trying to close my account, in the meantime I am bombarded with Protection 1 phone calls, at least six per day at my office. Stay away from them, use a local company or other options such as Arlo, etc. This service is garbage.

SCAM! Horrible experience. Called ADT and Protection 1 showed up. Very disconcerting that a security company would have someone from another company knocking on my door. The technician also could not clearly explain why they were there and not ADT. When I needed to move they tried to restart my contract term. I am currently paying $750 to cancel this contract early and am using Scout instead.
Over the 3 year period this will actually be cheaper than continuing to use Protection 1. I can also move freely with Scout and do not have a contract. Avoid this scam and go with Scout. I don't work for Scout - I just really hate Protection 1.

We were previously with ASG but Protection1 took over and things went downhill FAST. The Customer Service is AWFUL & they do NOT care about the customer at all. The reps were rude, short and REFUSED to work with long term customer (over 5 years) and as the rep said - we only acquired your contract making me feel like I was less of a customer because I was not originally their client. WOW.
I cannot believe they would rather fight and argue over a small amount of $ and create a NEGATIVE Experience (refusing to negotiate) than just working to create a win/win. It is funny how they spend thousands of dollars in advertisement to wow a new customer but refuse negotiate and work with their current customers that have been paying them for years. BEWARE - DO NOT recommend going with this company.

I signed up for protection 1 and they were all too happy to come out on a Saturday to install the system. Not even a month later, one of the sensors is saying low battery. Now they say they don't schedule after 5 or weekend appointments without an extra emergency charge. This is ridiculous! It's been a month. Now I'm stuck in a 3.5 year contract with what looks like is going to be awful service. Wish I had read more reviews prior to going with protection 1.

Protection 1 came out because we were having a problem with one of our window sensors. It turned out to be an easy to correct tamper error because the battery door on the sensor wasn't shut correctly. The service person also cleaned up some wires in our control box, checked the battery and left. A day or two later, we started having communication (BF) errors.
Every day, the keypad would let out an annoying series of chirps and random intervals, many times well after midnight. I had to get up and clear them every time. We scheduled another service call, and that guy tightened up some wires in the box. He said it might have been some loose connections. He left and a few minutes later, the error started happening again.
I ran out to catch him and luckily, he was still sitting in his truck. He didn't know what the problem was but he came back in and installed a new transmitter for a different cell carrier, because he said our signal strength would be stronger. The errors continued and we scheduled yet another service call. A different service guy came and reverted us back to our original cell provider, the one with the weaker signal strength.
I asked what we should do if this didn't fix the problem and he said we'd have to go with an internet line which we'd have to pay for. I'm not paying extra to fix their problem. We've had our system for many years and everything has been fine until now. When I signed the receipt, he said "That's your signature?!" Yeah, what's wrong with it?
He said, "I dunno if they're gonna accept it". Who is he to criticize my signature? Then he mentioned that he had alerted my wife about a wasp nest above our door. I said yes, I think I'm gonna leave it there.

Protection 1 EFFIN SUCKS MOOSE COCK! I can attest to the false alarms that were happening last year in the valley. My alarm didn't even go off in the house and they called saying the front door alarm had tripped. I walked down to the control panel and it was set to normal, no alarm status. After all that they said it was too late to call and cancel LAPD.
To make things worse LAPD shows up and hour and twenty minutes later and has the nerve to want to charge a false alarm fee. With the incompetence of Protection 1 and LAPD along with LAPD's exorbitant alarm fees, it's not worth it to have an alarm in Los Angeles. LAPD charges $260.00 / year and the same for a false alarm fee. Other cities permits are like $50.
I don't see why the residents of LA pay so much when LAPD never shows up (why do you think there are so many home invasion in LA? Look at the LAPD crime map in your area. You'll be shocked. The good neighborhoods get hit the hardest). They see it as "let your home owner's insurance pay the tab". LA residents are better off investing in a good camera system, reinforced doors and locks and good insurance.
Protection 1 and LAPD are a bad combination. You'll basically be pissing away 2k a year when you factor installs, LAPD false alarms, tech fees to come check out false alarms etc. You will end up just turning the alarm off and saying F it. P1 you get negative 4 stars. Loser company! Your hard tax dollars at work in LA http://www.lapdonline.org/crime_mapping_and_compstat

Stay FAR AWAY! This is the Exact Opposite of feeling Secure! I have been a customer for 6 years. On the 6th year, I had sensors sending out false alarms every week to 2 weeks. Police had been dispatched 2 times. LAPD Charged ME for the 2 false alarms. Protection One Promised me (after calling local General Manager Craig Ferguson) they would replace my 6 year old sensors and Upgrade me to ESecure 2.0 and lower my payment from $53.99 per month to a lower payment of $39.99. with No Contract.
They even scheduled an Install Date of that Monday August 1, 2016. When the technician (Vladimir Krushevsky) arrived, he said he was only there to see what type of sensors he needed to order and he would get right back to me. Please be aware that I have taken over 6 days off recently for FALSE Alerts from Bad Sensors (he is ALWAYS the Technician that comes over ).
No one ever got back to me. I called to follow up and I spoke with BRITTANY at 1-866-628-8422 and she was very uncaring. She said they would now only lower my payment $5.00 and will only replace 2 sensors WITH a 4 year contract. When I asked Brittany why they would not honor their agreement, she said that their was a mistake in communication. I READ THE ORDER Request on Vladimir Handheld Device.
There was No Mis-communication. This Alarm Company is HORRIBLE at honoring their word, or even having one second of concern about their customers. Not One Apology for all of the false alarms, 2 police charges, NOTHING, NADA, Ziltch.

My company was with Protection 1 for 6 years. Not one time did anyone ever come out to do service. When we started having problems with the alarm, still no one came out. Then when we had enough and switched services, we received two more bills AFTER THAT DATE. Do not waste your time or your trust with these people. Especially avoid Melissa, Eric, and Rick in the customer service department. P.S.
When Protection 1 sent their technician to pick up the equipment that was here (the only time they came here since the installation), the P1 Tech complemented us on the new panel we had had installed by their competition.

I have been a business customer with them for about 4 months and could not be more displeased. To keep this quick, we have had over 400 alarms and about 20 service representatives out to my store. I have been woken up, and have had to drop everything and go to the my business more times than I would have liked. This morning I went in to find the alarm went off last night, except I didn't receive any notification this time.
When I called to find out why, I was told they had no record of it. I took a photo of the event off the screen and emailed it to them. I waited two hours and never got a return call. I had to call back. I am waiting to see if they can resolve it. I have to admit I am not hopeful. Anyway, I am about ready to go to the BBB to get out of my contract and get my equipment money back. Wish me luck!

I'd like to let you know that the service tech Vladimir in my area is wonderful! He is excellent at what he does, and he's such a nice guy, too. I feel very fortunate that it was Vladimir who was sent to do the job at our house today. In general, the customer service from the main office is always helpful and willing to answer any question and solve any problem immediately.
Each and every time we have called, we are dealt with in a very respectful, courteous, efficient manner. I always enjoy recommending Protection 1's services to my friends with confidence.
