STAY AWAY! I had my account on auto pay and could not make a payment. Palmetto Alarm had the nerve to file a case with the state fraudulent check department when I could not make the payment. I was ONE month behind! The lady at the fraudulent check department said she had no choice but to proceed with charges against me if I did not make the payments. Do yourself a favor and avoid these guys at all cost. There are plenty of other options out there.

They prey on the elderly and the incompetent. Do not do business with Palmetto Alarm. My senior citizen mother who often times is not capable of making sound decisions((for reasons that are embarrassing to state in a public forum such a google reviews) was preyed upon by Palmetto Alarm. My mother moved into a new house about 3 months ago that is closer to me than her old one so that I could more easily assist her in managing her affairs.
The preexisting alarm that was already installed by the prior owner was provided by Palmetto Alarm. They showed up uninvited at her house soon after she moved in(predatory behavior) and talked her into a 5 year alarm monitor contract on the existing installed equipment. I typically handle most of the financial decisions and management and was not a party to this particular decision.
Today I get a call from them(because my mother had listed me as a contact) indicating that they have not received payment. That's when I find out that they had signed her up for a five year contract. I let them know that my mother was not able to make those kind of decisions and that I would just like to settle up the balance and discontinue the service(because my mom doesn't even use it or even know how to arm it).
I explained that she was not competent to understand what she was signing and asked if we could compromise. They said I could pay the entire 5 year balance. Not exactly a compromise. I further explained that I thought they were preying on her and that payment would not be forthcoming. They explained that they had recorded phone calls with her(and with me), had signed documents and that she was competent to make the decision.
You can tell talking to her most days that she is not. They did inform me that hey would place lien on her house and present the recorded phone calls as evidence in court. Nice people. Do not do business with this company. They prey on the elderly! Update: 12/19/2017 - So after I got done talking with Palmetto Alarm, the salesman showed back up at my mother's house before I could get to her to talk to her about things.
He basically told her that if she didn't pay they would put a lien on her house. He convinced her to go ahead and pay with her debit card. Given that I had already told them about her inability to make sound decisions, they still went over the same day and convinced her to pay. That is predatory and show a total lack of concern. After I talked to her she had no idea that she had signed a five year contract at 45 dollars a month(I think that's the price.
I'll update if I am wrong). She could not produce a signed contract for me to read. I explained to her how she basically committed herself to 2700 over 5 years and for something she could get somewhere else cheaper and month to month. Remember the alarm system was pre-existing. so why do they need a $2700 contract to provide a service that is deliverered monthly and not up front?
Also remember they showed up on her doorstep, she did not solicit them. Better if you take your business to someone who actually cares about the financial well being of their customers. My mother is on a fixed income, and they clearly don't care. If Palmetto Alarm can make this right I will be glad to update this review with those details.but I doubt their conscious is bothering them tonight. Update: 07/06/2018 - My mother passed away 2 weeks ago.
I was going through her papers and found the monitoring "contract". The signature on it is not her signature and the email address on it is totally fake and made up. My mother did not use email. This company is very unethical.

Military members beware. This company manipulates their customers into lengthy contracts without giving them a way out. Never states that the contract being signed is also voiding a military clause that would allow an active duty service member the right to cancel the services if orders we given for them to move.

Preys on the elderly! Advised my 90 year old mom does not have the capacity to understand signing a 5 YEAR CONTRACT. I received a copy of her contract and it further proves my suspicion.there are electronic signatures AND an email address in my moms name! My mom knows NOTHING about email! Fraud, at best, unethical. Called for assistance and to advise no payments would be forthcoming, I explained they are welcome to pick up their equipment.
I was told a mechanical lien would be placed on her home! Anyone with a single good eye could see she isn't competent to understand what she signed. Mom receives at least 10 calls per day soliciting products/services. Elderly people are vulnerable and alarm companies (and others) are taking advantage of them. Buyer beware!

SCAM SCAM SCAM, This company is a complete scam and very unprofessional. Lies on top of lies. The representative name Ken stalked our home and manipulated us into getting services with this company. He would pop up at our house every time I turned around trying to get us to sign up for their services. The day we signed up, we were just getting moved into our new home, cable guy was out hooking up our cable and during all of this he was there getting us to sign up.
He didn't mention the 3 day trial to us and told a lie that our services would come with a camera, but after signing paperwork, and hookup he tell us that we would have to buy a camera seprately and that it doesn't go with our service package. Today as of 10/27/2017 I made a complaint on the company's facebook page, the manager and owner of the page which may be the same person Karrie Grant went back and forth with me on the company's face page under my complaint.
I have the screenshots saved. She was responding through her personal facebook page, deleteting her comments after replying, but I have screenshots of her replies. THIS IS VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. They manipulate you into going into a multi year contract because their customer service is the worse, they're racist, and not confident in their services which leaves you stuck in a multi year contract. DO NOT GO WITH THIS COMPANY, SCAM, LAIRS, AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL.

We have been customers of Palmetto Alarm's for over 12 years and can not begin to say enough great things about them. We have moved twice and both times they have been excellent about getting our new home set up. I love being able to control and monitor my home with the easy to use app. Their customer service is top notch, anytime I have had a question or concern they are easy to reach and quickly help.
In the instances when the alarm has been triggered, response is unbelievably fast. We have recommended them to all our family and friends, most are now customers too and have never had a complaint!

I've had the system for a year and half now and I couldn't be more satisfied. With kids, there's nothing like the feeling of safety. They've always been quick to handle my services, unlike some companies. During install, they made sure I understood how to work everything before leaving and answered all of my questions. I would definitely refer this company!

Jeff and everyone else at palmetto alarm have been extremely helpful with everything from the initial set up to making sure all camera system were accessible from my phone. At one point one of our dvr went down and they had it replaced so fast I didn't feel like I missed a beat. Great service and definitely recommend their service to anyone looking for a reliable camera system for their business or home
