I went here because my neighbor said they made him a new key for his '96 Toyota when it got worn down. I had similar issues for my '98 Toyota so I went to have them make me a new key but I left being told that it's probably the tumblers in my ignition and not the key and they couldn't help me. I drove up high st to ace hardware and they just asked the vehicle model and made me a new key by hand with the old key to compare to. Now I have a fully functioning key that was made in 5 minutes when I left here being told to go to a dealership or contact a automotive key specialist.

Nostalgia had me hooked. 3 weeks to receive a $8 key that didnt work. After I was asked to remove the lock(in their parking lot). I was given a bag of parts to remedy my issue. Dropped the ball for this guy. Not saying the service was unbearable. After my 2 week wait. Received a call to pick up the key. Show up.and set outside waiting to be buzzed in.
Wait was uncalled for. Nostalgia over this business is gone. "Locksmith" is the title your business proudly displays. How come I installed my own parts? Yes, in the end I did have a keyed lock for my Husky truck box. Was it worth the wait? NO!

This was a fantastic experience for me. I was quoted ~$500 for a door handle replacement from another locksmith company (including $130 for hardware). I called Zipf for a second opinion and I was amazed with their quality, honesty, and helpfulness. They told me that they had the hardware in stock (for $25) and that their installation would be far cheaper than the other business.
Not only that, but they offered to show me how to do the installation myself. Rick spent about twenty minutes with me demonstrating the installation on a model they had in the shop and could not have been any more helpful. The entire staff was kind and polite. If I need a locksmith again, this is the place I am going.

I hope this place stays in business for forever. When I was little, like 4 or 5, this was the place you got keys made. Home Depot and Lowe's did not exist yet. I know, I'm old. Whatever. My Mom would take me here and I would play with the safes and all the locks. To this day I can honestly say this place started me on a career in engineering. Thank you Carl Zipf and thank you for your kindness to a 5 year old kid playing in your shop while his Mom got her keys made.
