Good service, but got ripped off. 30$ to change two fob batteries.

Needed an old safe opened due to the combo not working. Each person I spoke to over the phone or in person was friendly and showed care for the situation. I was a little nervous leaving the safe knowing many valuables were inside but the employees were all very professional and my worries were unfounded. Great honest company!

Just made an appt for key and to program my blank fob, they called back right away very pleasant and price is totally reasonable ( if you go to the auto dealer they'll jack up the price)

This guys rip me off $126 to make a key for a 2001 Kawasaki Quad. This is a lot money if compare with a brand new original ignition key cost me $42.96 with 2 keys. I don't my to pay for service but a least a phone call will be appreciate before do a job. We did several works over there, but on this case you guys didn't respect us. I'm business owner I know how to take care this. But in this case a owner doesn't give a chance to talk. He said this is the price if you want the part or not

After 3 visits to ace hardware with getting the same key copied I paid one visit to San Mateo lock works and I finally got a working key! Take your business here!

Fair price, communicative, and did a great job fixing our busted closet doorknob. Made time for us on short notice right around Christmas, and the repair was done quickly. Highly professional, and a long-term local business. What more could you ask for?

I unfortunately had a situation in which the key was stuck in a mortise assembly. I was in a bind and needed to leave for a trip later that day. I called San Mateo Lock Works requesting a service call and they were able to schedule me an appointment right away. While I waited Jesse was able to coached me on the phone and helped me figure out a way to realign the cylinder. They cancelled the call and I was able to make my trip. If I ever need any lock work in the future, they will be getting my business.

Awesome shop. Highly recommend. Needed to get two keys copied. Cost less than $9 and took no more than two minutes. Spoke with Eric and he was incredibly knowledgeable. I'll definitely go back for all lock stuff in the future

Great service and helpful staff. They know exactly what they are doing. Try to replace my cabinet lock and the staff was so knowledgeable they knew exactly what lock was it just by looking at it. Were able to find the parts and fixed my lock. Thanks for the great service

They know what they are doing people! I've been using them for years. From rekeying to keys for an obscure old padlock. They can do it. The warehouses cannot. Enough said?

Great service and great customer service. Great on the phone, great over email, great in person doing the work. They repaired our doorlock and installed a new electronic and video doorbell. Explained everything. Clear. Clean. Super pro.

This place is incredible. The owners are extremely knowledgeable and have a massive range of blanks. I was able to walk in with a rare key request (classic British car) and walk out in minutes with exactly the right item!

I sent an email with pictures of my problem. Jesse came up with a great solution. I brought in my key. Everyone was wearing masks. I picked up my lock the next, got advice on installation and everything worked perfectly. A+

I wish I had known about San Mateo Lock Works before! As the previous reviewer mentioned.lightning quick service if you need keys copied. I had the same experience - had 2 shiny new copies of my keys made in less than a minute. I was shocked after my experience at another local hardware store where I had to spend time flagging down an employee, waited while she spent about 10 minutes making the copies, then had to wait in line to pay for the keys.went all the way home to find out the keys didn't work.

Then I drove back to the hardware store to report the issue, only to be told the first employee had used the wrong key base to make the copies. The second employee spent about 5 minutes going through their entire inventory before telling me they were out of stock, and I needed to get a refund at the cashier. This second employee kindly referred me to San Mateo Lock Works, and I'm very grateful for the tip!

EXTREMELY fast and easy service. I came here to make a few copies of my keys and I walked in, had the keys made, paid, and left all within 60 seconds. I wish everywhere could be this quick!

I needed keys for a Jaguar. I went to this business and the made new keys and programed them.worked perfectly. I only wish that I wasn't 75 miles away. It's a long way to go for competent service.

Super knowledgeable about keys. I had lost my mortocyle key and they went through the effort of copying me a key and allowing my bike to stay in their shop overnight without charging me extra. They managed to even provide me information on 2 motorcycle key codes I had which I thought was to the bike I post the keys too and they gave me full information on where those codes belong to. Unlike Lockworld who just took the code and gave me random keys knowing it didn't match my bike. These guys came through!

I had a Bad experience with my order, they ordered my locks but forgot to order my keys, i was told on Monday they would have my keys by Wednesday and on Wednesday i was told i would receive a call when my keys were in, at that time i requested that they mail my locks and keys. I was told no to mailing do to cost. i wanted to give them the opportunity to make a wrong wright but that did not happen.

Came here because we needed to make a small mail key for our apartment box. Apparently they are not as common so we did not have luck at Home Depot or Lowe's after searching. San Mateo Lock Works was conveniently located in the downtown area and it was easy to find parking. We spoke to someone on the phone before arriving and they made a copy within 30 seconds!

Went in to get a a key for my Honda cut. Couldn't have had better service. The key didn't work the first few times and the shop adjusted it for me. They even explained why it might not be working since I have older locks.

The guy in front of the store was helpful but my key didn't worked out with my car - it's opens the door but doesn't close :)) starts the car so far no problem. The prices are cheap and the service is good. Recommended

I called ahead to see if they would copy a car key with a transponder, but I wasn't sure if my key had one, since I have an older car. The person I talked to looked it up, and told me it was an option on my model. He was transparent about what it would cost either way, and when I went to the store to actually get the copy, they gave me a blank key to try in my car to ensure it worked.

It did, and I got the copies I needed in five minutes or so. The staff are friendly, and seem to be committed to providing good service. Five stars, I have no complaints whatsoever.

Amazing service! Quicker than the blink of an eye I was walking out the door with a shiny new key! Store took COVID precautions and made me feel safe while in the store. Well done!

This post is in behalf of my mother that doesn't have a yelp account I had an agonizing experience with my door latch yesterday which I won't share to bore anyone, but thanks to the guy who helped me at San Mateo lock works, I can sleep soundly with my doors locked tight! Ps, I really wished I asked his name, thank you so much to the very knowledgeable man that helped me yesterday afternoon!

I brought in an entry set that need to be keyed to match a different key. They first suggested they could have it ready for me in the morning but when I told them I had to leave the house unlocked while I brought the set to this shop they told me to come back in an hour and a half. That's terrific service and it helped me keep my clients house safe. Thanks guys!

Eric is awesome! Going above and beyond to help me with my lock. I needed the zipper lock on my bean bag chair cover to be unlocked because the key was stuck on the inside. He searched his entire wall of keys trying to find one that would fit. To no avail, he decided to tweak one of the keys to see if he could get it to fit and turn. After numerous attempts and determination, it worked! Words cannot express how cool it was watch a locksmith at work and hear that lock click.

Now that's what I call customer service! There's a reason why this lock store has been around for so many years. It's because the people who work there genuinely do care! Thanks again Eric! You're the best!

The lock on my front door knob failed. I was hoping to have it repaired, but replacement parts are not available. So they were going to order me a replacement knob, which would take 2-4 weeks to arrive. But then one of the guys suggested checking their stock room, and found an acceptable match that was cheaper than the exact match to be ordered, and supposedly of higher quality. As I did all the installation work, I cannot give a rating on that. But as to providing a solution to my problem, with courtesy and professionalism, they were great!

Damaged my door while installing a lock set I purchased from them. Paid $178 for a professional installation job. Tape was not applied when the hole was enlarged to fit so the wood came off between the deadbolt and handle set. When called they indicated four different ways it was my fault and my problem. Won't patch it, won't hire someone to patch it, and won't take it off and reinstall except at great cost.
