Understand that Control4 only provides the software for whole house or partial "smart" home installations. It assumes no responsibility for appliances connected to its system. The competency/incompetency of any Control4 installation is wholly dependent on the audio/visual contractor, according to Control4. If your contractor fails to provide competent service, indifferent instruction as to how to use the system or simply ignores calls for service you are essentially on your own, though Control4 does provide some assistance telephonically.

Local dealers are hit and miss resources and slow to respond. The remote provided is an antiquated piece of junk, that does not unify the system installed. An example is unifying Apple TV with a cable system. Closed captioning on Apple tv requires an Apple remote and Netflix requires a different process. Incorporating the control devices to the entertainment appliances is accomplished with all the sophistication of electrician's tape. Control4 system users should also know when changing cable boxes, removal of the "bud" sensor to Control4 and re attaching it to a new cable box can disrupt the Control4 remote from TV control, requiring the cable remote to change channels and other features, as well as another service call.

Perhaps in the hands of a competent contractor the system will behave as advertised. However, life with the system hasn't made home entertainment easier, so much as an overly complicated, fragile experience that we wish had never been installed at considerable expense.

Wish this company provided better costumer service, this company treats there employees horrible. They are very rude and unfortunately think they are entitled. Not impressed with this company nor would I recommend it to any one there services are poor quality. Definitely very disappointed.

If I could give this company 0 stars I would. Customer service is horrendous. I sat on the phone for 16 minutes of it just ringing. I tried reaching all the options they gave me and no one ever picked up. Have called multiple times during the day and different days and it is the same thing every time. Horrible, horrible, horrible.

Threw out complete Control4 System when I was informed that I would not be able to configure my system without a dealer doing the work. The system when working properly is not consistent. There is no support documentation for the customer on: 1. Security management 2. Adding feature sets without having to pay a person on their first job who is learning how to configure on your dime.

These red flags are clear indicators that home automation with Control4 is inviting strangers into the privacy of your home. Worse still, there are heaps of Control4 Hardware on eBay for sale. Why would I pay large sums of money for a system I cannot configure and a company that won't give me proper support, without having to go with their dealer network? If you want a professional job done, do it yourself or find people with a reputation for transparency.

The remote they offer free with the system is worth nothing. It's very non responsive. Control 4 systems are expensive. They need to engineer a CONTROLLER for the CONTROL 4 at the very least the quality of a Direct TV controller. I can't be the only one to have a problem with this thing.

Love my C4 home. Being able to hit a button on the way out of the house and have the lights turn off and the door locks is great peace of mind. I'm not sure I could ever go back to regular lighting. The multiroom audio is really great too. I love being able to stream my music throughout the entire house and onto the patio. It's especially convenient when entertaining guests.

Primitive design, cumbersome architecture, old technology, every time you need a $5 something you will have to call a "dealer" to address the issue, so you can be charged an arm and a leg for nothing, like calling a licensed electrician to replace a $5 lightbulb, ridiculously expensive and not compatible with anything. I inherited the system with the house that I purchased, bad idea, very bad idea. STAY AWAY! Their dealers are even worse.

I can't imagine going back to life without my smart lighting. One button press and the entire house turns off and locks my doors. It's a saving grace when leaving the house or turning in for bed.

It's a closed system. The home owner can't make changes forcing you to deal with an installer or authorized tech. The controller is not easy to use, burns batteries quickly, has a small screen that is difficult to see in bright light. I regret letting my installer choose it and being locked in to dealing with them for even the slightest change.

I would give it zero stars if possible. The only way to resolve any problems that always come up is through an authorized dealer. The dealer that installed mine is extreemely unresponsive so I have an expensive system that is currently useless. NEVER again will I have a control 4 system. No way to troubleshoot unless you want to pay a tech. Control 4 will not talk to owners only dealers

Very unresponsive. Bought a house from a guy who had the place outfitted with Control 4 and happens to work for them. He neglected to mention that there is a fee to continue the service beyond the expensive investment in equipement. I've tried calling the company several times to try to set up the mess of boxes, but no one has ever called me back.

My thermostat is one of theirs and is nearly impossible to use without the wired online system - does very strange things that even the HVAC guy couldn't figure out. Overall a gimmicky waste of money, seems to be more hassel than anything else and a very non-responsive company.
