I thought about being generous with a 2 star review because they were helpful for a while and at least one of their employees was very good. However while I wrote this review I was reminded of how unsatisfactory an experience this was. I DO NOT recommend this company for a residential installs or maintenance. I was in a shooting in front of my house (luckily I was not hit!) and unfortunately I found out during the subsequent interactions with the police that my cameras were not operating at the time.
I called and called and waited months and months to be scheduled to fix the system and upgrade a camera they had ordered (which you think they would want to be paid for!). I'm a single mother and this was the second shooting in front of my house in 5 years in southwest Berkeley and it didn't matter how many times I called they would not schedule me!
They are so busy they couldn't take the time to follow up with me, even though I had paid them thousand of dollars to install their system and I had "invested" in their being able to take care of their customers going forward. Don White even had the nerve to blame me for the scheduling even tough I am free almost every day since I work at home, just not during the school drop off and pick up hours.
I mean seriously? They said it was because I wasn't available early early which I cannot be because I have child to get to school. Again, seriously? I'm going to pay you! Because I'm not an airport or parking garage - or who knows what they do - I am nothing. Why did they bother working with me to begin with if they are't interested in their residential customers who have paid a bunch of money, been in 2 shootings and live alone with their child. Shameful!
After they finally came and set up the system, I asked if they could do anything, give me a discount on the expensive new camera and labor as an olive branch - but no, nothing, not even an apology for leaving me with a broken camera system for months and months! Seriously, you're going to leave your residential customers in the dirt while you blame them for not being able to schedule - I didn't pay for those cameras to watch my flowers grow - this is real life, they absolutely fell through and I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY for residential work. If they are so busy why don't they hire more good people to take care of anyone who is trying to do business with them? Ridiculous!

After calling this company they said they would follow up to set up a time visit and I would receive a phone call back. Then the next day I receive a phone call from them telling me they were at my garage. At first I was a bit upset that they didn't call first, but forgot about it because I was happy they were here. The technician looked at my issue (the garage door safety edge was not working) and informed me I needed a new edge for ~ $900.
He also informed me I needed a laser eye as a precaution. I reluctantly said yes and he said he would order the parts and call me to set up a time to install. I joked that he should call first next time and he laughed. Some time later I get a phone call that the technician was at my garage again. I was upset because this time I was in the middle of a project.
I reluctantly met with him and discussed the work to be done and the timeframe. I then asked if he was sure I needed a new safety edge and it was not something as simple as a new battery. Well, after going over it with him, it turned out all I needed was a 9 volt battery! After getting his manager on the phone I was informed that I would not have to pay for the safety edge (that they ordered) but I would have to pay $292.50 for the previous technician's time. What!
No one told me anything about having to pay $130/hour when I called in the first time! I understand people need to be compensated, but if a company is going to charge me something, I demand the right to know about it before they show up at my door, not after they have gone. After speaking with a manager, he informed me I would only need to pay for the labor on the second day and the photo sensor, which I greed to pay.
I received an invoice from them for BOTH visits! I called and spoke to possible the rudest secretary I have ever encountered. I did receive a call back from a manager and he said he will adjust the invoice. That is the only reason why I am not giving them a 1 star review. Needless to say I will pay for what I agreed to, but I will not be calling this company again.
